Act now before the FiT changes are introduced

In response to Phase 2A of the FiT Consultation, DECC has confirmed the planned changes to the Feed-in Tariff for solar electricity installations which will have taken effect from 1 August 2012.

The changes to the FiT are as follows:

    • For domestic systems up to 4kWp the tariff will be reduced from 21p/kWh to 16p/kWh
    • The export tariff will be increased from 3.2p/kWh to 4.5p/kWh
    • All tariffs will continue to be index-linked in line with RPI
    • The lifetime of the FiT will be reduced from 25 years to 20 years for new installations
    • 25 year system performance guarantee
    • Since 1 April 2012 all properties to install solar electricity MUST have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of 'D' or above to benefit from the FiT subsidy
    • The tariffs for installations that do not reach the required EPC rating of 'D' will receive the lower FiT rate of 7.1p/kWh
    • The tariff changes will apply to new solar installations with eligibility dates falling on or after 1 August 2012
    • As of the 1 November 2012 there will be a process of degression applied to the tariff at an average of 3.5% every three months depending on the uptake
